Jamaican Patois
“Pride ah guh come just befoe destruction, an arrogance jus befoe dungfall.”
— Proverbs 16:18
King James Version (KJV)
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
— Proverbs 16:18 (KJV)
Reflection
This verse is a strong warning to the heart. It reminds us that when pride takes over, danger is close behind. Pride can blind our judgment, make us feel untouchable, and cause us to ignore correction.
Arrogance pushes people to rely on themselves instead of God, and that path often ends in a fall. The Word shows us that humility is protection, while pride opens the door to loss.
Closing Thought
Check the heart daily. Stay humble before God, because true strength comes from walking low and leaning on Him — not from lifting up self.
